5 Cryptid Bops You Didn’t Know Existed

While cryptids continue to evade scientists and cryptozoologists alike, they have not evaded our imaginations, especially not those of musical artists. In the article that follows, I’ll be taking a look at some Cryptid songs that rock, bop and groove. So if you wish to take a short musical journey into cryptozoology with me, read on for 5 Cryptid Bops you didn’t know existed!

  1. The Lizard Man - Jim Nesbitt

Jim Nesbitt shares his home town with the Lizard Man of Bishopville, South Carolina. “The Lizard Man” was released in 1988 and was a regional hit. Although this was his last studio release, Nesbitt imbues the song with funny lyrics and a baritone delivery. While Nesbitt’s tongue in cheek lyrics like “A lot of those Lee County people smell just like the Lizard Man”, could be offensive to a foul smelling Lee County inhabitant, let’s just hope that hygiene has improved in the past 32 years.

2. Mothman - VooDoo Katz

This sound produced from this 6 man band is not what you expect from a band from Charleston, West Virginia, although it does explain the Mothman theme. Formed in 1999, the VooDoo Katz are still going strong bringing joyful songs to the world, including this one. While most people theorize that Mothman might be a harbinger of evil, in this tune, he’s just looking for his moth woman. How sweet!

3. Spring Heeled Jack - Lemon Demon

A brainchild of American musician and comedian Neil Cicieraga, the musical experiment known as Lemon Demon has a synthy electronic sound. The song Spring Heeled Jack is included on his 2008 album “View-Monster”. Unlike our previous performers, Cicieraga is not from the same geographical location as the cryptid he wrote a song about, but considering Spring Heeled Jack's popularity until this day it's no wonder why the lyrics are littered with deep cut references to the lore of this cryptid.

4. Loch Ness Monster - King Horror

The last thing I think of when I think of the Loch Ness Monster is reggae, but that is exactly what this is. Loch Ness Monster features King Horror’s iconic growls and screams. Don’t let that deter you though, because it is a nice song to listen to. It’s perfect for chilling on a tropical beach, or hey, why not at Loch Ness itself?

5. The Mothman Song (Believe in the Power of the Mothman) - The Paranormal Song Warrior

The Paranormal Song Warrior is a band led by Matt Farley (the most prolific songwriter in history). They know the truth is out there and it’s being hidden from all of us. Included on the 2011 album “Believe: Exciting Songs about Shockingly Mysterious Stuff”, this song is the most streamed of all his discography. Which means that its an absolute banger and will absolutely make you believe in the power of the Mothman.
